Conquest of the Desert

This can't be right:

"He embarked on the first of the series of scientific expeditions that made him well known: a survey of Río Negro Territory, largely uncharted territory which had recently been made accessible by Argentina's Conquest of the Desert campaign in Patagonia. (Historically, it has been considered extremely controversial.) In January 1876, he reached Lake Nahuel-Huapi in the southern Andes, and on February 15, 1877, he discovered and baptized Lake Argentino."

Roca's conquest of the desert didn't start until 1878. Moreno explored these areas before: the dates show it to be so. He was exploring unpacified territory. The bold words are incorrect.Ttocserp 08:10, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
