Script error: No such module "Banner shell". Unless "defaced" is a technical flag term I don't think it is a well chosen word. And if it is, maybe an explanation or a link to one would be appropriate. Osomec 2 July 2005 22:57 (UTC)

Defaced is a technical term, I've linked to a definition Zedcaster 05:23, 1 January 2006 (UTC) This is the offical flag of BC right, the correct image??Reply

If this was only introduced in 1960, what was the flag before and why was it decided to replace it ? -- Beardo (talk) 21:00, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

There wasn't one. fishhead64 (talk) 02:31, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Since I was a kid I heard about the Union flag originally being on the bottom, but I've never seen a source for that and there isn't one here. I think it's an urban legend.

This article seems very strangely written, a minimum amount of information wrapped around a constant harping on Canada's imperial connections. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.52.28.248 (talk) 20:55, 8 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • The story about the flag having the sun over the union flag is not true; it seems to be based on the stories surrounding the original version of the coat-of-arms of 1897 which did have the sun over union flag (there is a stained-glass example of this at the provincial parliament buildings in Victoria). However when the flag was inaugurated in 1960, there is no way that mistake would have (re-)occurred because the controversy surrounding the orginal 1897 coat-of-arms would have been long in the past and not repeated. --Davidjsc (talk) 16:53, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

File:BC Govt Credit frame grab from Whaling.tif

I believe this flag does not belong in the article. First, it doesn't match the design from the screen grab. The frame appears to show 10 quarterings in the big shield (not 9), 3 in the 1st row, 4 in the 2nd, and 3 in the 3rd, with BC's shield bottom centre. Probably 9 provinces + Chadwick's Yukon design. Second and more importantly, we can't say this was BC's flag. It is a flag-shaped logo used by the film board. We would need evidence that it was actually sewn in cloth and flown as a flag in an official capacity. Indefatigable (talk) 19:21, 9 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
