In-universe banner
Forgotten Realms places is a subcategory of Forgotten Realms there is no need to have both. Being in FR places the article is automatically in FR. 129.132.134.107 09:11, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
I don't understand what's wrong if the article is in-universe. those who will look for Faerun in internet will probably interested in in-universe information. of course, I agree that providing non-fictional material will be very useful and appropriate for an encyclopedia, but I don't think it's very necessary to raise all this fuss 'to delete or not delete'. 81.214.36.116 (talk) 15:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
I edited the article to include more about players (real people) using Faerûn as a campaign setting. Are the edits enough to delete the in-universe banner? Rhinoptera17 (talk) 15:18, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Evermeet farther?
How are you coming to the conclusion that the 3e map shows Evermeet as closer than the 2e map when Evermeet isn't even on the map? Rogue 9 09:14, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'm new to this discussion, but Evermeet had beend removed from the map for a very pragmatic reason: to much ocean in the map. This is stated somewhere at wizards.com

Why deleting the maps?
Why had the maps been deleted? Aren't they fair use?
David Latapie (✒ | @) 12:22, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Same question, seriouslly, bring it back(there's at least 100 sites with that map on them so it should be fair use, if not, someone should contact wizards of the coast or whoever, and get permission). I've never seen an artical talk about the geography of a place and not have a reference map. --Wilson 17:21, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- That's because you can't copyright real geography. Fictional geography, on the other hand, you can. --Agamemnon2 22:05, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that's true. I'm looking a 2023 Atlas (Rand McNally) and there's copyright notices on each and every map. 57.135.233.22 (talk) 01:36, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- Very true, the last part was to state how a map is needed for this artical. Seeing as it is copy righted, I will try to get permission for it's inclusion from the developer, but if all else fails we should at least have a link to a site that has the map.--Wilson 15:18, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- It's not about the law at all, actually, it's just about Wikipedia's intent to have all free content. Even though fair use articles are perfectly legal, they aren't free, so that's why they are discouraged on Wikipedia for altruistic reasons.--Neverpitch 03:42, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Somehow there's no problem with maps of Middle-Earth or Westeros in their respective articles. 57.135.233.22 (talk) 16:04, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
Culture and Technology Edit
A description of psionics isn't really necessary in the "Culture and Technology" section. Rhinoptera17 (talk) 14:15, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Redirect
Who redirected all Faerun geography pages to 'Faerun' page? I think those pages should exist, maybe they can be merged and edited, but definitely info on 'Faerun' page is insufficient. I also have other thoughts about the person or people, who so-called edit Faerun pages, but I prefer not to express them here, as someone may classify them as personal attack. 81.214.36.116 (talk) 14:41, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Go see the history at those redirects to find the editor. (See here for example.) The main issue seems to be lack of notability; we needed independent, reliable sources to confirm that the pages meet WP:N. Since just about all the sources come from WotC, they weren't considered independent. (That's most unfortunate in my book, but the notability guidelines are a wikipedia consensus.) If you have concerns about my "so-called" edits of this article, feel free to drop by my talk page.—RJH (talk) 15:24, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Great Glacier redirect
I see frrom this page's content I misread it and added teh wrong dab line to Great Glacier Provincial Park, where I redirected the Great Glacier redirect to just now; I said JRR Tolkien's Middle-Earth just because the names in the link looked Elvish; here's what I made in teh way of a dabline:Great Glacier" redirects here. For the Great Glacier in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-Earth, see Faerûn#Pelvuria."......if somebody would care to amend the line properly please visit the parks page. The Great Glacier fronts the lower Stikine River for several miles and is a major natural feature of that region (the Stikine Country; I figure that the real world trumps imaginary ones, though perhaps there's more D&D people out there than people who've heard of the Great Glacier (which is widely known in environmental and enviro-tourism circles).Skookum1 (talk) 04:51, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Suggestions
A couple of things we could add to this page are a general history and a high-level description of the Faerûnian pantheon, including the deity conflicts and the resulting effects on the landscape.—RJH (talk) 19:48, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Map image
A (free use) image of a map of the continent would be a nice improvement to this article, imho. DP76764 (Talk) 18:21, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yep; do you happen to know where we could find one? 129.33.19.254 (talk) 15:00, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Faerûn includes Zakhara and Kara-Tur
Hi. Faerûn is the name of the entire supercontinent, including Zakhara and parts of Kara-Tur. Shouldn't that be implemented in this article? RhinoMind (talk) 21:43, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- Back. Having read sections in official FG publications with differing uses of the term Faerûn, how do we know which one is the correct one? Ie: if Faerûn denotes the western parts of the supercontinent (ie Faerûn is a subcontinent) OR if Faerûn denotes the entire supercontinent. RhinoMind (talk) 20:01, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- One "explanation" could be that the term Faerûn is only used in the western parts of the supercontinent, where the name also originated (perhaps). Here it denotes the entire continent, however vast it is. When in Kara-Tur or in Zakhara, the term Faerûn isn't used? Just my attempt at making sense of the ambiguous use of the term Faerûn. RhinoMind (talk) 20:03, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hello RhinoMind, are you still around? Could you please let me know in which game supplements Faerûn is used as a name for the whole supercontinent? I've found one secondary source which does that (I think, at least, there's a translation issue), but I thought that source was mistaken. Or does anyone else have any input on that? Thanks a lot!
