Digraph
I see the digraph FH mentioned. What about PH ? Mikkalai 07:35, 16 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Education
"in education, F is a failing grade" - can someone make this a bit more specific (certain qualification or country maybe?) Davidjamesgill 12:50, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
F in Etruscan
This article says F stood for the w sound in Etruscan, but elsewhere in Wikipedia it says F stood for the v sound. Which is right?? Georgia guy 00:21, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, where on wikipedia does it say that? Fresheneesz 01:45, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Etruscan F is transcribed as Latin V, which was a similar if not the same sound. However, Latin V wasn't pronounced [v], but [w]. Greek F was also pronounced [w], and Etruscan had no other voiced fricatives, so it's a good bet that Etruscan F was pronounced [w] too. kwami 08:04, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
F's importance not shown in article length
For a letter thats so important F has a rather short page. I think anyone named frank would have somehting to say about that. Are they supposed to spell it "Phrank"? Thats a bit too queer for my tastes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.186.128.13 (talk) 03:41, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Written F, with a descender
In Britain children are taught to write the lower-case f with a below-line descender, rather like g or y. I came to Wikipedia to find out why this is, but it doesn't appear to be mentioned. It'd be nice if it was. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.11.175.182 (talk) 13:59, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- That is also the case in the U.S. Kostaki mou (talk) 20:29, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
Contested deletion
There is a Wikipedia article on every letter of the English alphabet, and the article does not meet ANY of the criteria for speedy deletion. --Sundayclose (talk) 00:29, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
- That is obvious. I have reverted the edit that added a speedy deletion template, and I see the editor who made it has a history of doing that sort of thing. LjL (talk) 00:40, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
- Wait, sorry, nevermind... I see you were just quicker than me in notifying them about this incident. I had assumed it was a previous incident. If it's just one, maybe it was a TW misclick. Template:U? LjL (talk) 00:42, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
- Template:U Yes, it was a misclick. Twinkle was recommended to me very recently, and I wasn't completely familiar with it. Sorry about that. U2fan01 (talk) 01:54, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
F for Fluorine
Shouldn't the chemical symbol for Fluorine, which is F, also be included in this article? Doesn't this article effectively serve as a disambiguation article? Although, there's a separate article for fluorine, shouldn't it be included here with a forwarding reference to the separate article for further review? Stevenmitchell (talk) 07:11, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
- As F has so many other meanings, there isn't room for them all in the article. Instead, we list them at F (disambiguation), which is mentioned in a hatnote. Certes (talk) 11:56, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
