Request to update Origin section
Template:Edit COI This is Burcu from Gartner. I recently worked with editors to update the main Gartner article and two related articles: Gartner hype cycle and Magic Quadrant. I also have a pending request at the Research Board Talk page].
I noticed that this article references Gartner in the Origin section's first paragraph. The passage in question has several citation issues, though. The second reference for the first sentence has an "independent source needed" warning. The second sentence lacks a citation at the end. And the cited source for the third sentence misspells the author's name and doesn't include a link.
I fixed these issues in the draft below:
Template:Collapse top Gartner first used the acronym ERP in the 1990s.[1][2] The term captured a functional extension of two manufacturing-based concepts, material requirements planning (MRP) and manufacturing resource planning (MRP II), as well as computer-integrated manufacturing.[3] Without replacing these terms, ERP came to represent a larger whole that reflected the evolution of application integration beyond manufacturing.[4] Template:Collapse bottom
In addition to updating the citations, I also lightly reworded the first two sentences to improve readability. Because I work for Gartner I won't make this revision myself. Please let me know what you think. BurcuAtGartner (talk) 19:19, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
