Eyesight

Where is the best location for this? I added it as a separate topic, not realising it was already present in the "Other" sub-section of "Personal life". I think it's a bit hidden there. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:20, 2 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Should this be mentioned in the lead section? Martinevans123 (talk) 22:03, 2 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think a light mention in the lead and then a detailed section in the body is fine. - FlightTime (open channel) 22:36, 2 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Or instead of a section, it can go in personal life section. - FlightTime (open channel) 22:41, 2 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Martinevans123 Sources say he's healing and "there's hope", so it could be only temporary and not a significant event worth mentioning in the lead. He's 77, health issues that become protracted aren't unusual. I'd say it's only worth a mention if it turns out to be permanent. Escape Orbit (Talk) 22:48, 2 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's not suitable for the lead because it has some problems with WP:NOTNEWS. It's ok later on in the article.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 08:04, 3 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK. I'll try to keep an eye on it. Martinevans123 (talk) 08:10, 3 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Some might argue that the 2024 premiere of the musical "The Devil Wears Prada", at the Dominion Theatre in London, is quite a public venue to announce that one has lost one's vision? But I guess "that's showbiz", folks! Martinevans123 (talk) 19:18, 3 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

‘Clean’ from addiction

The word clean is not used anymore to describe someone who is drug free, as it suggests that drug addiction (and the addict themselves) is dirty. In substance misuse we simply use abstinent from drugs (or in this case, drugs and alcohol). Or sober would work for both too. 86.22.150.89 (talk) 21:30, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 31 December 2024

Script error: No such module "protected edit request". A reference included in the section § 1962–1969: Pub pianist to staff songwriter cites a Late Show segment entitled 'Elton John Takes Stephen Through His Entire Catalogue.' All the details of the reference are correct (date, timestamp, and relevance to the article material it supports), but both the original and archived links erroneously point to an unrelated segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden. The links should be corrected to point to the correct YouTube video instead. Thank you. 104.246.217.149 (talk) 10:17, 31 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

File:Yes check.svg Done Link now corrected, but not yet archived. Many thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:27, 31 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

English

He’s English, change it. 2601:183:4C02:AD50:3068:F1E7:2785:6F67 (talk) 13:03, 7 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

He's also British. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:06, 7 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Not true, but it could be if that at birth he did receive British citizenship, but not English. 2603:8001:8001:F591:ADCF:6B8C:6BBF:8779 (talk) 14:44, 13 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes folks, it's WP:UKNATIONALS time once again. Personally, I think that articles should prefer British, as this is the official nationality involved.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:40, 13 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps you could explain how it's possible that John is not British? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:46, 13 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
as User:Ianmacm said, British is the official nationality of John. 2603:8001:8001:F591:4597:EA1C:820E:F07B (talk) 04:12, 4 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
