Oscars

Ellen Burstyn *won* the Oscar for "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore". She was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for "The Last Picture Show", nominated for Best Actress for "Same Time, Next Year", nominated for Best Actress for "Resurrection" and nominated for Best Actress for "Requiem for a Dream". —Preceding unsigned comment added by AxelDC (talkcontribs) 15:41, April, 2005\

Awards

I've changed the title of the second paragraph from "Awards" to "Emmy Awards and controversy" because it describes more accutely the content, and because the previous paragraph ("Career") deals with the Academy Awards nominations, which was confusing. Nazroon 03:36, November, 2006 (UTC)

What's in a name?

The name Burstyn always seemed funny to me, until I recently started working on Wikipedia entries having to do with grain mills and milling. The preferred type of stone for making traditional millstones is known by geotechnical engineers as buhrstone, or from the German, Buhrstein. "Burstyn" appears to be a variation or corruption of Buhrstein. How the name came about is a bit of a mystery, as Ellen's former husband was born Neil Bernstein, Bernstein meaning amber in German. Was the name change from "amber" to "millstone" deliberate, or just an accident of spelling perpetrated by the actor's agent? —QuicksilverT @ 16:34, October, 2007 (UTC)

Too much about award controversy

This section is about half as long as her whole career, and she's been nominated for multiple oscars. Is there any way to trim the awards controversy section down, or merge it with another section. I think that a long vernon is fine on the emmys page, but here it seems like too much.Schnapps17 (talk) 23:41, November, 2011 (UTC) American Muslims Category; Based on the references, she appears to be connected to Universal Sufism, not Muslim Sufism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.246.49.90 (talk) 09:59, August, 2012 (UTC)
