Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

Effingham was named after Lord Effingham

The Effingham County Courthouse and Lord Effingham Marker, IL are historic landmarks.

Built in 1871, this Courthouse reflects 19th century architecture and is listed on the National Historic Register. The Courthouse is one of the few in Illinois that has not had the exterior altered, and the Courthouse is still in use. The Lord Effingham marker honors the English nobleman who refused to take up arms against the colonists in the Revolutionary War.
