Just a multi-disciplinary research?

Could it be explained how the ecoinformatics differs from any other multi-disciplinary research (apart from its area)? Pavel Vozenilek 17:49, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm... not sure I understand this point. Ecoinformatics is a research area and obviously the disciplines it integrates make its identity unique... can you clarify what the problem is? I can certainly clarify its definition in a cross-disciplinary context and link to other disciplines if that's what you're asking for, but it doesn't sound that important in order to understand what it is, and I wouldn't want to dilute the message in a page this short. I certainly plan to add more information in the future (if nobody else does), like describing key projects and organizations - that should help clarifying. Fvilla 13:58, 8 Apr 2005 (EDT)

Merge with Environmental informatics

This article's content should be merged into Environmental informatics, as they cover the exact same subject, and the latter is the one that "wins" in term of, you know, having any references at all. Tagging as such. LjL (talk) 16:57, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

I disagree, ecoinformatics is an emerging field of biology, specifically ecology and evolution. This should be recognised - it is more than a subset of environmental informatics and merging would dilute an important topic.
