co-dependency causes it?

Who undid my edit and why?

Actually, I'm removing the entire sentence because it's fucking useless. "which was socially unacceptable at the time. Historically, children of dysfunctional families were expected to obey their parents (ultimately the father)" Disobeying parents is STILL socially unacceptable, and doesn't need to be stated at all. You obviously didn't read the paragraph very well. The words "socially unacceptable" refer to divorce, not children disobeying their parents.

Of course the last part is sexist. This is in a historical context, and not about anything current. In an article this long, it's hardly excessive to have a few sentences devoted to history. I will add "and historical context" to the "Perceptions" title to further minimize the chance of anyone getting confused.

Finally, debate about what academic material to include in Wikipedia is NOT considered vandalism. Yaneph (talk) 01:20, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

What about "encyclopedia style"?

This article does not read like an encyclopedia article. It needs a major rewrite to make it useful to the general-interest reader. This article is "dysfunctional"

Someone with real qualifications in psychology should completely rewrite this, or maybe the entire thing should be scrapped altogether. This isn't an adequate explanation of what truly defines a "dysfunctional family", imo.
