Ethnic Racial Composition innacurracy

There seems to be an attemped to make the Dominican Republic more European than it actually is. Everytime someone post a reliable source and more accurate sources that have more realistic estimates from the dominican population, they attempt to reverse the white population and black population. In reality the Dominican population has more black dominicans than white dominicans, with mixed race being the majority. At no point in history was the population of whites higher than the blacks, even when it was just one big island (hispaniola) at the time when it was not divided. Only in the beginning was it different (1490s-1500s). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:6C56:60F0:B9F0:91F5:10EF:57EA:30EC (talk) 17:44, 20 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 17 January 2025

Script error: No such module "protected edit request". at the bottom of "the Trujillo era" it says, "The assassination of Trujillo the day before finally eliminated the threat," and it sounds very confusing and doesn't look correct, also you should add "they" between "finally eliminated" The real PikaGamer (talk) 19:27, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Edit: put "they" before "finally eliminated" The real PikaGamer (talk) 19:29, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

File:X mark.svg Not done: The assassination eliminated the threat, there should be no "they" in this sentence as "they" did not eliminate the threat, the assassination did. Jiltedsquirrel (talk) 02:13, 19 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Whitewashing in Colonization Section

This is pretty misleading...intentional or not...

Initially, after friendly relationships, the Taínos resisted the conquest, led by female Chief Anacaona of Xaragua and her ex-husband Chief Caonabo of Maguana, as well as Chiefs Guacanagaríx, Guamá, Hatuey, and Enriquillo. The latter's successes gained his people an autonomous enclave on the island. Within a few years after 1492, the population of Taínos had declined drastically due to smallpox,[43] measles, and other diseases that arrived with the Europeans.[44] African slaves were imported to replace the dwindling Taínos.

In the first citation, the Smithsonian article doens't use the word "friendly" and while the Arawak people were friendly (as described by the Spanish), one can review Colombus' own ship logs and Bartholomew de Las Casas testimonies of the treating of the Arawak people, and see that the the Spanish's *motives* were never friendly. While outwardly so, they were for a time; they never had *any* intention but to *use* these people.

Here too...

Within a few years after 1492, the population of Taínos had declined drastically due to smallpox,[43] measles, and other diseases that arrived with the Europeans.

Look at the first citation again. More than just smallpox dwindled the numbers.

There was co-existance becuse they didn't fight. The Arawak were friendly and well meaning. The Spanish seeked to subjugate and use. The Arawak resisited because they were getting kidnapped, tortured, killed, and their land taken. Their numbers dwindled due to that *and* smallpox.

As written this paragraph is very much whitewashing events.

Calling Code

The calling code is just +1. The next three numbers are an area code. The articles for the US and Canada simply list their calling code as +1 and do not proceed to list every single area code in the country. We shouldn't treat this country any differently just because they only have one area code. 2601:249:1A80:22E0:95A5:38B9:1DB7:FCD1 (talk) 20:30, 12 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
