What is the connection between Didacus, Diego, Iago, Santiago, James?
- Diego was at one time a varient of Santiago, see http://www.sandiegohistory.org/journal/83fall/sandiego.htm , and St. Didacus' folks apparently named him after that variant. The Spanish Santiago came from old Spanish Santo (Saint) + Iago (James) = Santiago. Didacus is the Latinized "Diego". Murcielago 22:03, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Diego
Diego is also a variation on the name Iago (James).
