Hi, You are doing some really fine and well-needed language programs, but I would like to comment on the Deg Hit'an region (where I am from). As a language person I am thinking you know that "Ingalik" means "people of the lice" which our past enemys called us. It is a derogatory name and I hope that you could get rid of it completely. It is insulting.
Aren't the people on this island members of the same group? Frenchmalawi (talk) 13:18, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- No no! The Deg Hit'an (old name: Ingalik) are Alaskan Athabaskans. But, Little Diomede Islanders are Ingalikmiut tribe of Alaskan Iñupiaq Eskimos. The Ingalik (I) = Deg Hit'an Athabaskan Indian; Ingalik/Iŋaliq (II) = Little Diomede Island --Kmoksy (talk) 13:30, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
Pronunciation
Since the pronunciation of the name is already imputed under the "Name" section. Why not implement it into the IPA pronunciation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MacySinrich (talk • contribs) 17:27, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
