Moved from article
"It is not generally used of specialised connectors that are designed to be deformed, but only of workpieces (what is this sentence trying to say?)" Don't know who added the above comment, but I figured it belonged on the discussion page, not in the article. - Shai-kun 05:07, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Swage
Swaging is a more general term for a metalworking process that is an awful lot like crimping in some of its applications. Perhaps an expert would consider constructing appropriate cross references between Crimp and Swage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.150.5.2 (talk) 20:33, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Merge from Crimp connection April 2017
Someone put in a merge tag but didn't put any discussion here.
- Oppose - crimping in general is used for a lot of things other than electrical connnectors and the merge would unbalance this article. --Wtshymanski (talk) 03:34, 27 July 2017 (UTC)

Merge Proposal
I would like to propose merging this page with Crimp (electrical). It is confusing that there are two separate pages for what is essentially one physical concept of joining ductile materials (typically metals) together via deformation under pressure. If there were the one page associated with crimping, there could be subsections describing details particular to different types of of crimps (ie electrical, hydraulic), but the similarities between these outweigh the differences. In addition, both of these pages are quite short currently and have numerous instances of redundant information.

- Not remotely opposed here: pointless to distinguish at article level over semantic quibbles when both are barely past stub status. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 00:57, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

- @Klbrain Crimp still includes separate links for both. IDK the process, so should Crimp (electrical) be removed from there? Referencer12 (talk) 19:50, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- It's possible to edit the Crimp disambiguation page in the same way you would any other page; doing it boldly would be fine (someone can always reverse if they have an objection). However, my view is that it doesn't hurt to keep the link on the disambiguation page - it will be redirected anyway, and if someone were to split Crimp (electrical) in the future then that would be one less page to fix!
