Before I edit this page, I wanted to make sure there would be no objection...the GE GENESIS series of locomotives are not cowl unit locos, they are a whole new design from Krupp and GE that is basically a monocoque. You can read it online here: [1] or, if you have access to the journal, Template:Citejournal So before I take down the photo of the P42 and references to it (and potentially edit the cab unit article) I wanted to make sure this wasn't going to be a controversial edit. Your input is requested. Thanks! VCA 12:00, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, never mind. In light of a patent I located on the GE GENESIS locos, Template:Cite patent, they are confirmed to be of monocoque design and are in no way cowl unit locos. I will edit this article accordingly. VCA 20:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Shortdesc/lead conflict

The lead of the article says "a cowl unit is a body style of diesel locomotive", but the shortdesc (currently on wikidata, unimported) says "diesel or electric locomotive [...]". I have no knowledge on this subject, but this makes me wonder, which is right? No info on electric cowl units is present on the article, but maybe the shortdesc is the right one and we can find sources to expand on this? YuriNikolai (talk) 01:04, 29 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
