I am watching (fast pitch) softball on tv and I don't see the "safety base" mentioned here... I don't want to change it though because I know nothing about softball. It is the Women's College World Series incase anyone is wondering... does someone want to elaborate on that difference? Maybe in serious competition there is no safety base? zellin 00:38, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC) Also, the outfield is not all a constant distance from home... 190' in the corners and 220' to center... zellin 00:40, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I think I'm changing that to recommended distances. —C.Fred (talk) 20:18, 12 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The safety base is used at all levels of softball play, the homerun fence does not have to be the same distance the whole way but can be a maximum of 250ft and minium 220ft from memory at senior level. Also their has been a recent change to the DP rule in softball im not 100% sure wat the exact change is i'l correct it when i have a better understanding.

Also in the article it mentions under the hit by pitch for softball "Awarded first base unless swing or attempt made to intentionally be hit." at the under 19 mens world series in 2001 i believe it was a japanese batter steped into the pitch to score the winning run against canada to go into the gold medal game, using that as a point i dont see how that comparison is correct. --Dan027 13:08, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
