I have created this article with some reilance on the CAP OASIS publication, but I have made sufficient changes and additions to the text to deem it my own. Please feel free to add further information so that we can make this article a worthwhile wikipedia publication Tomer

Usage

I ran across CAP for the first time on the US National Weather Service's[1] website today. I haven't found any information on how it differs from RSS, and how an end-user might make use of it. Can someone enlighten me, please?--Woden325 15:44, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Protocol?

CAP is not actually a protocol, is it? As I read it, it's just a message format (I guess Common Alerting Markup Language didn't sound good enough). Should the article make that distinction clear? -Jeff Worthington 20:35, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

CAP formatted alerts are rather lengthy and well documented elsewhere. A brief description of the format and a link to the CAP Standard would, I'm sure, suffice without bulking up the article too much. Having a link to the official source is also better in that when the standard is changed (as the group is currently in the process of moving forward to CAP 1.2 and, in the not too distant future, CAP 2.0), the link can be simply updated rather than having to deal with monitoring and maintaining a lengthy block of XML code w.r.t. specification updates, vandals, etc. (Steelerdon (talk) 18:50, 18 February 2010 (UTC))

The article should have examples, especially the corner cases. Cited sources vs. external links

There are a lot of external links in the article. Would it make more sense and be cleaner to provide the information contained in those links and then cite the source. In other words, rather than saying "according to ______, this is the case" it could read "here are some facts" and reference it in the usual way. (Steelerdon (talk) 18:50, 18 February 2010 (UTC))

My Revert

Leaving a note here, for some reason I can not type in the edit summary box today... weird. Anyway, I reverted the change the IP made because it changed a blue linked target to a red linked target and gave no reason or source for the change. Jbh^Talk 21:14, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

And... self rv... clicked through to CMAS and looks like its name was changed and the red link was just a typo. Fixed it. Sorry. Jbh^Talk 21:18, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
