Proposed merge of Discharge of the Columbia River into Columbia River

Template:Atop

WP:NOT, the statistical information should be in the context of the main article rather than split on its own. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 20:12, 31 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Strong and speedy support this is borderline WP:a1 since there is no context to this statistical info. -1ctinus📝🗨 00:44, 2 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

First map representation ever of the Columbia River: Maris Pacifici 1589

Current draft: The Maris Pacifici published in 1589 map features on the west coast of North-America an intriguing resemblance of two major coastline features: the mouth of the Columbia River identified as "Rio Grande" and the delta of the Fraser River labeled "Baia de las isleas". These rivers may have been too sighted by European visitors long before official records would confirm nearly 200 years later. In spite of limited evidence of Francis Drake expedition whereabouts in the Pacific Northwest, Pacific Northwest BC history commentator Sam Bawlf posited that the Ortelius mapped coastal features were a proof that Drake sighted the mouth of the Columbia and the Fraser River delta.[1]

Please comment if this is a useful and suitable addition to the article history section. Similar revision efforts are underway for the Fraser River and for the Pacific Northwest history section articles. LeCanardQuoi (talk) 05:01, 9 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

I have proceeded with the proposed revision of the article LeCanardQuoi (talk) 05:44, 13 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
