Category:United States History articles with to-do lists
I found this page through the category. I guess it used to have the template? (WP:TODO) This currently had a to do list page(Talk:Cold War/to do) - admittedly at the moment very sloppy. Maybe I would suggest near-blanking out the page and seeking consensual tasks? (alternatively maybe removing this page from the category?) User:Dwarf Kirlston - talk 04:50, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
First Cold War
Should we not be considering renaming this article as the First Cold War, since it seems quite apparent that the Second Cold War is already well under way? Guinness2702 (talk) 14:34, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- We should not, because reliable sources have not consistently and confidently (i.e. not in the manner of asking the same question you did) described the current global political situation as such. There have been so many "is this the Second Cold War" questions raised since 1991. Yue🌙 18:17, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Multiple historians contend the Cold War never ended. There was a thaw during the 1990s under Yeltsin, before the conflict revived in full. HerbGowan (talk) 20:21, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Individual historians say a lot of things. We reflect the body of reliable sources as a whole, ideally with each point of view and aspect treated proportionately to its attestation in said body of sources. Remsense ‥ 论 20:26, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
Short video sequence showing the EU’s growth in the ‘Influence’ part of this article
The video sequence consists out of singular images, showing the gradual growth of the European Union. Considering that the UK has left the EU, should another image be added to that video? One in which the UK is not shown to be part of the EU any longer? SapphireElixir (talk) 10:59, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
In popular culture section
It is silly that this section talks only about one source of media and does so in greater detail than needed. Why does this section focus only on “the Americans”. It should either be deleted or more references added. Tom Clancy/jack Ryan Hunt for Red October, Alvin and the Chipmunks when they were at the Berlin Wall, heck, even Top Gun is Cold War media!
Can some one fix this
Edit: I’ve thought some more, “Bridge of Spies” with Tom Hanks, “Red Dawn” and even the Tetris movie that came out a few years ago. This list is so long, why one show is referenced seems like someone at the studio had authorship rights here.

- I have removed the reference. The link to Culture during the Cold War is sufficient. The Banner talk 14:14, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Overly long??
Yes, the article is quite long. The article is also about a sensitive subject. So being quite long is - in my humble opinion - necessary. I see no need to break it up. The Banner talk 11:50, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- No, breaking up would be the wrong way to go. But there are a lot of sections with the Main-tag. First of all, one checks that all of the text from that section is in the main article. Next, the section is emptied except for a very short summary. In that way, the article gets shorter and still is a coherent whole. Lova Falk (talk) 06:00, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
