I found the entry confusing and ambiguous. It is necessary to distinguish between the local government area governed by the Council-the City (or, earlier, Municipality) of Rockdale-and the principal suburb after which it has been named. I know it is a difficulty. I have tried to make it clearer by retaining the original text and adding distinguishing words. Phayla 6 May 2007

I restored the history information. This is useful information and belongs on this page. If you want to create a separate 'History of the City Of Rockdale' that's fine but we also need more information here. Ideally, I would like to see something similar to the Sutherland Shire page. Important data appears to have been lost when Municipality of Rockdale, New South Wales was transferred to this site. Has anyone any idea of how I can retrieve my original material from the earlier site? Phayla 8 May 2007.

The result of this discussion was to merge the article History of the City of Rockdale into City of Rockdale.

Formal request has been received to merge the article History of the City of Rockdale into City of Rockdale. Both articles talk about the same thing, as the Council no longer exists. The "History of the City of Rockdale" page is very poor quality and barely referenced, all the information there can easily be covered in the "City of Rockdale" page.
