- Actually, I don't even see him mentioned on that page, other than a footnote in which his name was misspelled ("Langston" -- I've corrected this). Perhaps that material has been removed? Title of Alife 1
The article claims the field began with the first International Conference on the Synthesis and Simulation of Living Systems.
I was there as an invited speaker, and as I recall, it was titled
The First International Workshop on the Synthesis and Simulation of Living Systems.

Two birthyears?
