Nationality of Players

Given the fact that baseball is becoming an increasingly more international sport (i.e., more non-U.S. leagues in existence, more non-U.S. players in the MLB), the roster formatting on Wikipedia should probably be updated to reflect that. If you look at the formatting for other international sports (such as soccer), the player nationalities are indicated using flag icons. I think this would be a beneficial update to each of the major league rosters in the MLB, it would not be too difficult to implement and it would not clutter the information on the page. However, before such change a change is implemented, I thought it would be healthy to achieve at least some form of consensus on the talk page for each team. yuristache (talk) 01:10, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Style of English and date formats

Since the article is about an American professional baseball (MLB) team, it seems that the preferred style of English should be American English per MOS:TIES. This should also apply to dates as well per MOS:DATETIES and MOS:DATEUNIFY. So, I was bold and added Template:Use mdy dates and Template:Use American English to the top of the article along with a hidden note referencing this talk page post. I'm pretty sure that's not something that should be controversial, but I'm happy to discuss if others feel differently. Thanks in advance. - Marchjuly (talk) 08:28, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Retiring of Konerko's number

I'm not sure why the sentence "Paul Konerko's number 14 was retired prior to the game against the Minnesota Twins on May 23, 2015." needs to be removed from the article. The statement is supported by a reliable source so it can be verified. The only reason given each time it has been removed by Megacheez (see Template:Trim&oldid=Template:Trim , Template:Trim&oldid=Template:Trim , and Template:Trim&oldid=Template:Trim ) is that "This event occurred earlier this season". I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean because most of the things the article describes have already occurred. If the wording of the sentence is a problem that can be fixed, but it seems that a source is needed somewhere to show when Kornerko's number was retired, right? I'm not interested in engaging in any edit warring. I`m just trying to understand what's wrong the sentence about Konerko. If text is not needed, the perhaps the source should at least be added to the date his number was retired in the Template:Tl. Shouldn't the retiring of a player's number be something that is supported by a reliable source somewhere within the article. - Marchjuly (talk) 06:45, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Minor issue question

Should it be "The Chicago White Sox are..." (current construction) or "The Chicago White Sox is..."? It's one team, so is the singular verb correct?--Daveler16 (talk) 16:41, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Logo & Cap Insignia

Is there a way we can add to the MLB info box parameters to include an option for both “Logo & Cap Insignia” as one since the White Sox are the only MLB team where they’re one in the same? I realize every other team has a separate logo and cap Insignia but for the WS exclusively it makes sense. Banan14kab (talk) 20:35, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

Say what?

One sentence reads as follows:

"On April 14, 2021, Carlos Rodon recorded the team's 20th no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians."

I very much doubt that this was the 20th no-hitter that that White Sox recorded against the Indians.

I am guessing that it is the team's 20th no-hitter, and it happened in a game with the Indians.

If this is the case, I hope that someone familiar with the use of commas in the English language can fix this.
