Bloodmobiles

I think the reference to bloodmobiles is confusing. Was Dr. Drew's contribution the idea of remote collecting of blood -- apparently the first mobile blood drives were done with a truck of supplies going to a location where cots and other equipment were set up? Or, was his idea related to the refrigeration of blood and the ability to store it at the remote sites and transport it back to a central location?MikeVdP (talk) 03:25, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Further, the term bloodmobile generally refers to a vehicle such as a modified bus on which people can donate blood in remote locations. The term blood drive would apply to the situations in which a blood bank sends staff and supplies to a location such as a school cafeteria to collect blood. The use of the term bloodmobile may have changed over time.--anyone with a reference?MikeVdP (talk) 03:29, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

manual edit request: Red Cross resignation and Stevie Wonder reference

I can't edit this because the article is semi-protected and I don't have an account (and don't want one).

While reading this article, I checked the reference (#2 as I type this) for the fact that Dr. Drew resigned from Red Cross in protest of their racist donation policy. The reference citation here (pointing to ThoughtCo) is a garbled mess, and upon searching ThoughtCo itself to correct it, I could not find any such information in any of Mary Bellis' articles there. I receommend that you replace that reference with this one, just the first one I found quickly via Google (and from what looks like a reliable source): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5651504/

Ironicity of the program

I find it ironic that Charles Drew could not participate in his program, since he was Black and they didn't accept Blacks' blood at the time. He also couldn't change the rules of his own program. HimIsMe (talk) 19:09, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
