Anyone who believes that the Ceres Games have been held every year since 1314 will believe anything!

Ceres was once described (before World War II) as "the prettiest village in Scotland." Many would suggest that this description ceased to apply when the higgelty piggelty houses on the lower side of Main Street were replaced by Council Housing in the 1960s.
