LGBT

Caroline Azar is strongly associated with LGBT culture in Canada, specifically with the queercore movement, and is regularly listed on weblists of notable LGBT people. Would the anon user who keeps removing LGBT-related categories from this article care to explain why? Bearcat 23:50, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Also, a person cannot be filed simultaneously in both Category:Canadian punk musicians and Category:Canadian musicians; the punk musicians category is already a subcategory of the general one. Wikipedia has strict rules that an article cannot be redundantly filed in that manner. Bearcat 23:58, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Dear Bearcat; Since Caroline Azar has recorded with such musical groups as Greek Buck, The Hidden Cameras and Kickstand, none of who are punk groups, I thought the category 'Canadian Musicians' would be more accurate. Correct?

Two things...
  1. We're trying not to use the general Canadian musicians category on individual articles. Eventually, that category will contain no individual articles, just subcategories like Canadian punk musicians, Canadian pop singers or Canadian guitarists. So whenever possible, we need to stick to the most specific appropriate categories we can apply, and we still can't file a person in Canadian musicians and a subcategory of that at the same time. It can be in all the subcategories that fit, but it can only go in the parent category if it's in no subcategories at all.
  2. You didn't address the matter of the LGBT-related categories here at all: she's on this list of famous LGBTs, so are they wrong or have you been reverting the LGBT categories incorrectly? Bearcat 09:58, 14 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Dear Bearcat; I would argue once again that since Caroline Azar, as a member of Fifth Column, is "specifically" associated with queercore, which defines itself in opposition to gay/lesbian culture, that she, and the band, should therefore not be categorized as 'LGBT' but rather under the 'Category:Queercore' heading. As far as the labelling of various musicians under appropriate categories goes, you, I believe, are an administrator here, so that's your call. Thanks for explaining!

LGBT Category

Can anyone actually find a reliable source that states that Azar is LGBT? A fairly exhaustive search on Google doesn't find anything. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 07:06, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
