This is a start using the complete text from the General's Marine Corps page. It's complete as far as her career is concerned, but somewhat dry, and it doesn't cover her activities since retiring. I worked for the General when she was a lite colonel and she's good people, so I thought I'd at least get a start on her page. -- NetSerfer 21:01, July 21, 2005 UTC
- Template:Ping Thanks for starting the article. I've reworked it, though it still needs a little more work. - — ERcheck (talk) 17:26, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
Who was first?
This article claims that Carol Mutter was the first woman to reach promotion to three-star rank in the U.S. military. The article on Patricia Ann Tracey claims that Tracey (a vice admiral in the Navy) was first. Is the incompatibility of the two claims more of the rivalry between USMC and USN? More to the point here, which side is Wikipedia on? At present, it's on both. Rammer (talk) 04:41, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
- @Rammer. I realized, and then read later, that the wording is carefully crafted (and open to mis-interpretation.) Mutter was the first to be nominated to a 3-star rank. However, while Mutter's nomination came before Tracey's nominiation, Tracey was promoted first. However, as Tracey, a Navy officer, became a vice admiral, and Mutter, a Marine, became a lieutenant general, thus first three-star general would be accurate. I've worked on the wording for accuracy - — ERcheck (talk) 17:22, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Carol Mutter. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add Template:Tlx after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add Template:Tlx to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20080226005200/en/Neah-Power-Names-Retired-Marines-Lt.-Gen.#.U3AP27VOVmM
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at Template:Tlx).
