Can we please talk about the spelling of Zürich/Zurich? Thanks. Kokiri 10:36, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Not much response there. I think the English is Zurich. Zuerich would certainly be wrong. But then I think the Polish port is Gdansk in English, without a diacritic on the n. --Audiovideo 01:04, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Before you spend any time on this discussion, you should look at archives: Talk:Zürich. I don't know how that ended... 71.77.12.236 06:17, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

German or Swiss?

Züritüütsch looks like a written form of Swiss German to me. German does not usually have the "üü" construct. Wallie 07:28, 20 May 2006 (UTC) üReply

By the way, the audio-pronounciation of zürich is wrong, the way it's said is maybe swiss-german but not srandart-german. the "ch" in zürich is not like "kh" in "Khalid", its more like "zürish", because english don't have "ch" pronounced that way —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.132.163.78 (talk) 10:03, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's not wrong. It's the correct pronunciation in the Swiss accent in standard German. The Swiss German name for Zurich is simply "Züri". — tooki (talk) 21:01, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Im Stemmer

Template:Ping Both, the offical BW cartography as well as swisstopo write the places' name as Im Stemmer. -- 18:53, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I have seen that as well. But Büsingen belongs to Germany, so I feel swisstopo at least is not relevant. search.ch maps state 'Im Stemmer' as well, but are they relevant? As mentioned in my edit summary, the 'Gemeinde' uses just 'Stemmer' and the roadsigns state Ortsteil Stemmer at both ends of the hamlet and on both sides of the signs. I see, and I assume you are right, but this would not be enough for WP:VER. It is not that important at all, so let it be as it is. BTW: Please follow the formatting conventions for WP:TALKPAGEs.

I see. Never mind. But please use the intention colons when writing WP:TALKPAGE answers, thanks. -- ZH8000 (talk) 19:59, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistency in HDI across Wikipedia Articles

This article boasts an HDI of 0.989, yet the List of subnational entities with the highest and lowest Human Development Index puts Zurich at 0.966, plus the wrong Zurich is mentioned and the list is kinda glitched out. I should probably put this in the talk page of that article. TheHeartbroken1 (talk) 16:39, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
