Did the Grimm brothers get any of the stories from their own parents or grandparents?
Did any of the stories that they collected come from their parents? Did their parents even tell them any fairy tale stories when the grimm brothers were kids? 50.45.14.176 (talk) 17:09, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- When were they both born 2C0F:F528:40:AD15:487B:EC21:9010:C20E (talk) 15:28, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- The brothers did not start collecting stories until 1807, when they were in their early 20s. Their father Philipp Grimm died in 1796, long before their writing careers started. Their mother Dorothea Grimm lived until 1808. She is thought to have influenced her sons' editing decision to depict saintly mothers and wicked stepmothers in stories which previously depicted only villainous mothers. The boys held "the concept of motherhood" in high regard thanks to her. Dimadick (talk) 21:48, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
