Uncited claims made in this article
This article claims, in convoluted syntax, that "Tickets for the Bristol NASCAR event are said to be the second hardest to obtain in all of sports, second only to the opening ceremony of the Olympics" and it also claims that Bristol is "One of the most popular tracks in NASCAR." Where/How were these claims determined?
Bristol, itself, only claims that the Sharpie 500 (not "NASCAR event") is "one of the toughest tickets in all of sports." This is supported by this ESPN article, but even that article puts the Sharpie 500 in 10th place of "American Sports."
About the second claim, I am not trying to say that Bristol isn't popular, but I wonder how encyclopedic it is to claim "popularity" without defining it (tv ratings, attendance, etc.) First, note that other "popular tracks" like Daytona, Talladega, and Richmond (another short track that always sells out) don't claim to be among NASCAR's most popular tracks. Also, the claim of popularity is tempered later in the article with the statement that the track is "either loved or hated by fans and drivers."
I don't want to just remove these claims, but I will if there is no consensus to keep them. - Ektar 14:02, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- This all sound non-encyclopedic and should be removed without a reference. Royalbroil 14:08, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- I haven't read it yet, but this article talks a lot about the track's popularity and would be useful in sourcing some of the article's claims. Recury 23:24, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
The claim that a football game at BMS would undoubtedly break all football attendance records is not only unfounded, but also not specific and opinion. It should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.110.112.62 (talk) 11:42, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh My GOD just stop it with this. Have you ever been to Bristol?!?! You don't need a reference to know that Bristol can seat 150,000 fans. Last time I checked, The Big House only seats around 109,000. You don't need to know math to know there's a big difference between the two. This is one of the biggest problems with Wikipedia, you people don't remember how to use your heads. References clutter the page. You people forget how to use common sense.----Nascar king 18:09, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
Somewhere I remember reading that Bristol International Raceway and Dragway were sanctioned by the FIA or its predicessor. This is what determined International status. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.171.133.172 (talk) 13:13, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Track record
Ted Christopher's track record shouldn't stand because it was set during testing. No one inspects the cars for legality during testing. To qualify as a track record, a fast lap must be set in qualifying or the race.Mustang6172 (talk) 06:10, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Bristol Dragway
I tried to imput some of the standard facts on Bristol Dragway, part of the BMS complex, into the top template, but for some reason, only part of what I put in there appears when I preview it. I've never been great with the templates. I was wondering if someone could please rectify this by putting the info in correctly. Opened: 1965, Surface: Asphalt and 700 feet of Concrete, Length: 3,800 ft, Capacity: ~25,000, Record E.T. (1,000ft): 3.835 seconds (Larry Dixon, 2009), Record MPH (1,000 ft): 319.75 mph (Antron Brown, 2009)? My references are [1] and [2]. Thanks! User:Spxmet (talk) 05:14, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Feels like a magazine article
I half expected it to ask the reader questions like, "can you believe it?" Manys (talk) 02:32, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Race lap record is wrong.
Both the pavement and dirt lap records given in the info box are misleading (if not outright wrong). As far as I know, the record lap (in a race) at Bristol is 14.462 by David Gravel in 2021 (in a WoO sprint car). There doesn't seem to be any reason to think only NASCAR records should be listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:589:300:C7C0:B4FE:2F41:42CE:5165 (talk) 01:04, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
