Death from heart failure or liver failure?
Did Brian Asawa die from heart failure or liver failure? Different sources say different things. This 2016 article from the New York Times says heart failure: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/24/arts/music/brian-asawa-celebrated-countertenor-and-pathbreaker-at-the-met-dies-at-49.html . However, this obituary from the UK's Telegraph says liver failure: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2016/04/28/brian-asawa-opera-singer--obituary/
According to a commentary posted in the following page, the cause was liver failure due to severe alcoholism. Here's the webpage: https://www.sfcv.org/articles/feature/memoriam-brian-asawa-1966-2016 . The commentary is made 5 years ago by Aaron Seeman who noted:
- I went to UC Santa Cruz and was in the music department with Brian Asawa, also studying piano. I had recently reestablished contact with him on Facebook, and I am very upset about his death. For one thing, I think it needs to be disclosed that he died from liver failure caused by severe alcoholism. I don't think it is ethical not to disclose this information. With alcoholism as with AIDS, silence = death.
Perhaps others could do further digging and then determine whether change to the indicated cause of death should be made on the Wikipedia page.
