Condor or Silicon & Synapse
Acording to the timeline of video game, Blizzard North was knows as Condor. According to this page, they where named Slilcon & Synape. Which one is it? Reub2000 00:53, 25 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Silicon and Synapse became Blizzard Entertainment. Condor became Blizzard North. They were seperate companies and were both acquired by the same parent around the same time. Together they became known as Blizzard. BE Produced warcraft and WoW while BN made Diablo — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.94.177.90 (talk) 13:45, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
Blizzard Entertainment formerly known as Silicon & Synapse.
As far as i know, Blizzard Entertainment began as Silicon & Synapse. Their first game was a platform puzzle game called The Lost Vikings. They later renamed themselves as Blizzard Entertainment after the success of their first game. I think Blizzard North was a subdivision of the main company. Maybe Condor was a codename ?
Condor (which became Blizzard North) was a separate company and was acquired by the same parent as Silicone and Synapse (Which became Blizzard Entertainment). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.94.177.90 (talk) 13:48, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
S&S=BE Condor=BN
Condor was in fact the original name for Blizzard North. Blizzard HQ was at one time Silicon and Synapse. The companies got to know each other when they were both working on JLA-- one on the SEGA Genesis system and the other on the SNES. When Blizzard was acquired by Davidson, they recommended that Davidson also buy Condor. The deal was structured in such a way that Condor became an antonymous part of Blizzard Entertainment, and its name was changes to Blizzard North. The logo was made in such a way that the capital L and I in "Blizzard" almost run together into a U-- "Buzzard" a large carrion bird similar to a Condor.
The name Condor came from the Condor Club, a strip joint in the North Beach area of San Francisco. The original idea was Live Nude Games, and Condor was seen as a less overt, more ambiguous way to express this idea.
Claims of cancelled and upcoming game being "believed as the third installment in the Diablo series"
There is now evidence that one of the titles being worked at Blizzard North was indeed Diablo 3. Please watch this interview with one of the project leads of Diablo 3 at http://www.gamespot.com/video/930659/6193139/diablo-iii-interview
He explains that they were working on Diablo 3 back at Blizzard North but after it was shutdown the project was essentially "rebooted" then continued by the current group.
World of Warcraft
I removed World of Warcraft from the article. Blizzard North never released that game.
