Is it useful to note that Blackburn Hamlet is become known in Ottawa due to rising crime rates? Can quote Ottawa citizen articles. -- Barry Zuckerkorn 20:06, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Proposed page move
As per WP:CANSTYLE#Neighbourhoods, this article should be moved to Blackburn Hamlet, Ottawa. In accordance with the guideline, however, the move is first being raised on the talk page. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 13:15, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Page violates copyright regulations
Nearly the entire page appears to have been copied and pasted from the Blackburn Community Association website, which goes against Wikipedia rules on copying text from other sources. Nearly all of what was not directly copied from there have no references. The vast majority of the page looks to be up for deletion, but I'm bringing this up on the talk page first to hear from everyone else.Cepiolot (talk) 13:50, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- It's possible that their association site copied from Wikipedia. -- Earl Andrew - talk 17:03, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- Indeed, this is my assumption. The text dates back to 2007 and the website's text more closely matches the current text of this article than the text back in 2007. E.g. the community site and the article says "Blackburn is closer to downtown Ottawa than almost all the "new" suburbs, yet offers an old-fashioned country village feeling rarely found in neighbourhoods today." Whereas the text in 2007 said "The Hamlet is closer to downtown Ottawa than almost all the "new" suburbs (only a 10 minute drive), yet offers an old-fashioned country village feeling rarely found in neighbourhoods today." -- Earl Andrew - talk 17:09, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- Well, either way, the page does not look like an encyclopedia page, but more of an advertisement. For example, the same line "Blackburn is closer to downtown Ottawa than almost all the "new" suburbs, yet offers an old-fashioned country village feeling rarely found in neighbourhoods today." is almost completely an opinion. Much of the article still needs citing, and if the BCA website really copied from Wikipedia, that brings into question its own verifiability. I still believe the majority of the article needs to be rewritten to exclude opinion and generally clean it up.Cepiolot (talk) 02:47, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'm going to attempt a page rehaul. I'll do it slowly and try to keep as much information as I can, but in a more formally written way, with more citations. Any input would be helpful.Cepiolot (talk) 01:02, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Is the Canadian Federal Conservation Authority a thing?
It's mentioned in this article that Blackburn is surrounded in part by Canadian Federal Conservation Authority lands, however searching it up, there are no results for this authority. Does it just not exist? It's been part of this page for some time but there seems to be no evidence that it exists. Cepiolot (talk) 16:25, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
- Removing it as I can't find evidence of its existence. If anyone else does feel free to add it back with a reference. Cepiolot (talk) 13:29, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Improving Historical Context
Posted by [[User:OttawaHistoryBuff]] – 26 May 2025
Hi all, just wanted to suggest expanding the History section of the article. Right now, it touches briefly on the early settlement and development, but it doesn’t really explain how Blackburn Hamlet evolved into a suburban neighborhood. The role of the National Capital Commission and how the Greenbelt shaped the community’s layout would be useful additions. If anyone has access to local archives or municipal records, it could really strengthen this part of the article.
Census Update Needed
Posted by [[User:CanStatsFan]] – 25 May 2025
The demographics are still based on 2016 data. Since the 2021 census results are out, should we update the numbers accordingly? Also, would it be worth adding a little more info on the linguistic and ethnic makeup of the area? It helps readers get a clearer picture of the community today.
Parks and Trails
Posted by [[User:NatureNerd613]] – 24 May 2025
Since Blackburn Hamlet is surrounded by Greenbelt, I think the article could benefit from a bit more detail about the local parks and trails. For example, the Prescott-Russell Trail and the nearby Green’s Creek conservation area are really notable. Should we add a new section or just expand the “Geography” part?
Neutral Point of View (NPOV)
Posted by [[User:Editor123]] – 22 May 2025
Just flagging that some sections feel a bit promotional – for instance, phrases like “thriving community” and “welcoming environment” sound more like a real estate ad than an encyclopedia. Happy to help reword for a more neutral tone if others agree.
Notable Residents – Criteria?
Posted by [[User:CapitalWatch]] – 21 May 2025
There was a previous attempt to add notable residents, but it was removed due to lack of sources. Should we create a short section if we can find reliable sources (e.g., athletes or public figures born or raised here)? Might be worth discussing criteria before re-adding anything. Sikandarg (talk) 15:04, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- I don't know why you've included "Posted by [[User:X]]", that's a little suspicious. But anyway, feel free to improve this article anyway you see fit. Just remember to abide by WP:ENGVAR and use Canadian English in the article.-- Earl Andrew - talk 20:09, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
