What is the pH

whats the pH value of bile

I saw the "Bile is alkalineScript error: No such module "Unsubst"." so I googled it. Bile has a pH of "7.8" [1] or "5 to 6" [2], and many other contradictory values. Best I can find is [3], a paper that discusses changes in measured bile pH over time. It found that the pH of common duct bile (7.50 to 8.05) is higher than that of the corresponding gallbladder bile (6.80 to 7.65) and that it becomes more acidic in the gallbladder the longer you go without eating, though resting slows this fall in pH. It references older papers: gallbladder bile 5.6-8.0 liver bile 6.2 to 8.5 Altman (1961); normal gallbladder 6.5-9.0, abnormal 6.9-8.0 Crawford and Brooke (1955) but notes these earlier studies made no apparent effort to control for air exposure or temperature change of samples. Anyway, given all this, the "bile is alkaline" claim seems false (well, OK, it is on average, but not always...), so I'm updating it. DewiMorgan (talk) 21:46, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

The citation matter is a serious issue ...

... that needs to be addressed. Large blocks of factual information that cannot possibly be common knowledge appear without citations—as do, in at least two cases, entire sections. They are either plagiarized, or are original research. The tag indicates a problem since 2011. This is years. Take action, this embarrasses the encyclopedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.179.245.225 (talk) 19:32, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Fluid is not the same as liquid

Bile or gall is a dark green to yellowish brown fluid

Does Bile consist liquid and/or gas, as the word fluid implies, or is it simply liquid?

Bile will only consist of liquids under normal circumstance. 195.224.114.36 (talk) 15:22, 7 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Humans would have died out if that were the case. 195.224.114.36 (talk) 15:25, 7 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Production of bile

I don't think this article currently says how bile is produced in the liver ...? Grassynoel (talk) 04:58, 19 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
