Twin Towns

Added a table for twin towns. Radiofoot89 (talk) 03:54, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hallo Radiofoot89, nice table, this is the official Site. Where did you find Oro-Station Canada? --Curo (talk) 20:53, 28 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Name

The information relating to the "Bergisch" part of the name contradicts the German Wikipedia entry, which I judge to be more accurate. According to this, and to most local literature, the prefix "Bergisch" was added in 1863 specifically to distinguish the town from Mönchengladbach. Whether it comes directly from the Counts of Berg or from the region to which they gave their name (the Bergisches Land) comes down to the same thing in the end. But it clearly means "Gladbach in the Bergisches Land". Escoville (talk) 10:05, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

These two statements are explicitly contradictory. At least one of them must be edited or deleted to resolve this, but I'm not familiar with the scholarship regarding the etymology of the place name. (1) "The word Bergisch in the name does not originate from its location in the county of Berg, " (2) "That is where the first part of the name (Bergisch) comes from, the town being located in the former County of Berg.
