Template:Ping We seem have an edit war going here; I do believe that Meanmemescorrecting being reverted is appropriate. Of course the slavery issue is ripe for this circumstance, so I’m inviting discussion, but to no avail. Thanks for your help.Hoppyh (talk) 16:23, 4 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Changes to the lead

@Hoppyh: The most notable fact regarding Harrison is that he is a Founding Father. Thus, IMO, the article should lead with this. The next most important fact is related, his signing of the Declaration of Independence.

As it stood, the use of "as well as" for a connector with the Continental Association is a poor choice because the Declaration comes off as an after-thought, as less important - as, oh, by they way - when it is the primary reason Harrison qualifies for "founderhood".

Finally, mentioning his being Founding Father at the end struck me as putting the horse well after the cart. On that note, being a colonial legislator and having a tradition of namesakes are trivialities, at best of secondary interest.

That's my "say". I would appreciate hearing yours. Thanks. Allreet (talk) 02:56, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate your thoughts and understand your take on the emphasis. I do believe the tradition of legislative work in the family is important. If you’d like to make changes to the lead, by all means feel free. Hoppyh (talk) 12:02, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
What is important is that he was a member of a political dynasty, and that he was socially well-connected. I find the status of a "Founding Father" to be marginally significant trivia, as most Founding Fathers were obscure figures. Dimadick (talk) 13:08, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Hoppyh and @Dimadick: I'll try another revision keeping both your points in mind. If I go astray, edit accordingly, though my hope is to avoid another revert. Thanks for the feedback Allreet (talk) 01:41, 24 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Col. Benjamin Harrison V’s date of birth (5 Apr 1726) was incorrectly written as 13 Dec 1730 on Memorial created in 1972

The Virginia Society Daughters of the American Colonists erected a memorial in 1972 with Col. Benjamin Harrison V’s date of birth as incorrectly written as 13 Dec 1730, which was actually the date of birth of his wife, Elizabeth Bassett. His date of birth in all historical records is 24 April 1726. Amseeberg (talk) 02:28, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Typo, his date of birth was 5 April 1726. Sorry, my fingers slipped typing. Amseeberg (talk) 02:31, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
