Please note that bedok, beduk, bedog, bedug, etc. is not a slit drum. A beduk is actually a very large cylindrical drum with a wooden body with lengths and diameters usually reaching over a metre, and the striking membrane made from thick buffalo hide. The beduk is placed horizontally across cross-beam stands for smaller, mobile, versions. Very large models are permanently hung above ground at shoulder height in buildings of importance such as istanas (palaces), mosques, village community halls, etc.
The slit drum made from a hollowed log or bamboo section is called kentung. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.226.7.211 (talk) 08:03, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
