Expanding the "Awards and Honors" Section

Hello everyone! I've recently added the "Awards and Honors" section to this article, but it currently contains only one honor. If anyone has access to reliable sources documenting other notable awards or achievements related to this subject, please feel free to contribute. Thank you! One21persons (talk) 15:00, 8 January 2025 (UTC)Hey so, I wanna add the phonetical word for Bangladesh. We should add "Phonetics: /ˌbæŋɡləˈdeʃ/" in the 'Etymology' or the introduction section. I have seen many foreigners struggle with the pronunciation.Reply

Thanks!

File:Red question icon with gradient background.svg Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. I appreciate your good faith. Just wrong format. (3OpenEyes's talk page. Lead

A lot of sentences in the lead are now obsolete in the article. They are not mentioned in the history section anymore after this. Since we're not supposed to add citations to the lead, the sentences should therefore just be removed and the lead should be trimmed much further. Its an eyesore anyway. "Ranking"

The following text has been subject to an edit war:

<templatestyles src="Talk quote block/styles.css" />

According to the World Economic Forum Global Risks Report 2025, Bangladesh ranks 1st in inflation, facing some of the highest price increases globally. The country is 2nd in extreme weather events, frequently affected by floods and heatwaves. It ranks 3rd in pollution, with severe air, water, and soil contamination. Bangladesh is 4th in unemployment or lack of economic opportunity, and it holds the 5th position in economic downturn, facing risks of recession and stagnation.[1]

Cerium4B correctly noted that it is misrepresenting the source. The source introduces the table that these figures are taken from as follows:

<templatestyles src="Talk quote block/styles.css" />

Over 11,000 respondents were presented with the following question: “Which five risks are the most likely to pose the biggest threat to your country in the next two years?” and were asked to select these from the list of 34 risks in Table C.1. “Risk 1” indicates the most frequently selected risk in each economy. Tied risks are presented in alphabetical order, with the tie indicated by numbering.

So that table is not saying that Bangladesh ranks 1st in inflation (etc); it's saying that 11,000 respondents felt that inflation was the #1 risk faced by Bangladesh. Schazjmd (talk) 17:43, 18 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Schazjmd, Thanks for noticing the issue.

History: infobox

In infobox of many countries in establishment section there starts from major unification of country for the the first time such as China from 2070 BCE shortly.The first major unification of an independent empire in Bangladesh, having Bengali identity was Bengal Sultanate. So Shouldn't it be included in infobox? It's just a proposal for me to check if there is consensus. From Land of Rivers (talk) 07:10, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Infobox:Establishment

Hello! A day ago @AimanAbir18plus removed the text "Proclamation of independence from Pakistan" from the Establishment section of the infobox with a vague explanation, which I manually reinserted here. My edit was reverted by @Remsense saying the previous one was correct. Upon asking further explanation here on their talkpage, @JMF suggested mentioning the US page that it be discussed here on Bangladesh's talkpage to reach a consensus.

The section is currently a version by @Mehedi Abedin. However, the section is still very unclear. I propose the section be changed like this:

@From Land of Rivers proposed something here on #History: infobox which you can also consider to comment on. Regards — Meghmollar2017 (UTC) — 08:22, 14 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
