Group B Championship Claim

I am removing the claim of the Group B Championship in 1984 since it is wrong. Please see World Rally Championship for more details but both the manufacturer's title and the driver title was won by Audi that year. It's possible that the orig author might have had a different BMW championship in mind but it's definitely not Group B.

M1 assembly

///M1's were reportedly *not* assembled by BMW Motorsport themselves because it would have intefered with production for other commercial ventures by BMW. According to the BMW M Registry, the fiberglass body panels & steel tube spaceframes were mostly constructed at ItalDesign in Italy, and the final assembly (powertrain, etc. by BWM Motorsport) was performed by Baur in Stuttgart(!) of all places. Could anybody else confirm/refute this?

In 2004, Sports Car International named the car number nine on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s.

Removed above. If you go to the link for top sports cars of 1970, 1970's #9 is awarded to the Dodge Challenger, not the BMW M1. Infact, bmw m1 isn't even listed anywhere on the ranks.

Andy Warhol

"version of the BMW 745i"

Its quite impossible that BMW would put a 3.5L engine in a 745i, as the model number denotes the car and engine size (the 745i has a 4.5L engine, which was also a V8 not a 6 cylinder). Although a few discrepancies exist (such as the 525e which had a 2.8 motor built for economy) however such discrepancies are minor and not misleading.

Perhaps what the writer meant to say a "735i" or that the 745i engine concept was based on M1's engine. Otherwise such a statement is inaccurate and discredit's the article. Could this be changed. added by Mark4life (talk • [[08:17, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

E21?

Title of the entry should be corrected to "BMW M1(E26)". E21 is 3 series' model designation; M1's model designation is E26.

Correct production numbers?

The production numbers do not agree. For instance, the opening section states 456 units were built, but the right-side summary states 455. What is the correct number?
