The adjectival form of Atlas is Atlantean (at'-lan-tee'-un), per the OED. kwami 08:26, 2005 May 27 (UTC)

Rotation

The article says it is synchronous. Is this known or assumed? Deuar 21:32, 26 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mass

According to Spitale et al., THE ASTRONOMICAL JOURNAL, 132:692-710, 2006 August, the GM product for Atlas is 0.44±0.04km3s2×103, quite different from the previous estimate. I think that gives the mass I put into the article, but someone might check (I'm just a mathematician). It probably means that values like the escape velocity and surface gravity are wrong too, but I didn't change them. Btw, Spitale et al. give updated parameters for most of the minor Saturnian moons. Great! I've added the reference in the article, and updated calculations. Deuar 19:01, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spoken Wikipedia recording

I've just uploaded an audio recording of the article. Please let me know if I've mispronounced anything. :-) --Mangst (talk) 01:52, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Feature naming

Circular ridge around Atlas can be named Uranos dorsum (from Greek Ουρανός — sky, since Atlas holding the sky). --Jugydmort (talk) 19:17, 13 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Shepard Moon in lead

I see in the infobox for Atlas that it is classified as the "outer shepherd moon of ring A", should this information be added into the lead paragraph? I think this information is notable enough to merit inclusion in the lead paragraph. MaximusEditor (talk) 20:43, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
