I could find nothing that conclusively verifies that Nintendo of America has any ownership of the Atlanta Hawks...so I removed the reference. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NathanMazoa (talkcontribs).

Losing winners?

"...the Hawks had all losing records during this period and won the national championship." This makes no sense at all, so I'm editing it out. Rlquall 17:38, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

End of the Omni

THings like the implosion of the Omni, the Hawks playing at Alexander Memorial Coliseum and the Georgia Dome while Philips Arena was being built, and the like, need to be covered, but by someone with a lot more Hawks knowledge than me; they are glaring omissions in the current article. Fair use rationale for Image:ATL 5664.gif

File:Nuvola apps important.svg

Image:ATL 5664.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Buffalo Bisons

The National Basketball League (United States) page links here from the name "Buffalo Bisons". I did a search on this page and did not find either component of that name. There is also a link from another NBL (US) team, the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, that is explained. Is there a link between the Atlanta Hawks and the Buffalo Bisons? Is it through the Blackhawks? Buffalo is listed as active in 1946 and Tri-Cities from 1946 until 1949, did the one become the other? Can someone who is knowledgeable about this please address this? --Khajidha (talk) 13:40, 16 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

While the Hawks don't mention the Buffalo Bisons in their history, that's actually how they started according to records such as this which has in the footnote for the Tri-Cities Blackhawks: "Started the season as the Buffalo Bisons before moving to Moline, IL." Because the change happened in the middle of the season, it's often overlooked, even by the franchise itself. --JonRidinger (talk) 23:43, 25 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Grammar

It should read "The Hawks advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history, when they lost," or "in which they lost," NOT "where they lost." The Eastern Conference Finals is an a event or a time, not a place.

The "Finals" should also be capitalized.

Harry the Hawk

Is there a reason why the NBA mascots of the Atlanta Hawks, Harry the Hawk, is not on this article? - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 03:09, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I came here to the talk page looking for reasoning on this. I'm trying to compile data about all the teams, including mascots, and am curious about the omission. †dismas†|(talk) 00:21, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

All time leading scorer

Where it has the all time leaders in minutes, steals, etc, it doesnt actauuly have the all time leading scorers. I would also recommend checling the artciles for other teams Sushidude21! (talk) 08:34, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Sushidude21! (talk) 01:18, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Okay so serious question: how are the official logos decided for the Wikipedia pages? It appears to be rather inconsistent. For example the image for the Hawks cites the teams website as the source as does the Brooklyn Nets, but the Nets use the actual logo from the site. The image here doesn’t (it uses a variation with the circle and “Atlanta Hawks Basketball” wordmark caption). Why not just use the version that fully says “Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club”? Just looking to know because I’ve had similar examinations with pages like the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, etc. Banan14kab (talk) 14:54, 28 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

There is no such logo that has "Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club" in it. In addition, logos are used according to team's press releases so that should explain why logos differ in infoboxes. – sbaio 17:00, 28 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay. It may be a past variation I'm referring to, but I know I've seen the club caption in a logo before. Also I'm curious, but do you know where the press releases are usually found? Is it some kind of sports journalism article or posted on media day? I'm mainly asking to aid in future edits and keeping up with sources. I assumed we just use the team's official website inthe past. Banan14kab (talk) 19:36, 29 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
