Script error: No such module "Banner shell". This article describes Arnold Raphel as a "politician." A "politician" is quite a different animal from a career Foreign Service officer, which is what Mr. Raphel apparently was for over twenty years. In addition, this article states: "In 1981, Raphel served as the Special Assistant to Secretary of State Edmund Muskie." Since Muskie's tenure in that office ended (at least as I understand it) on January 20, 1981 with the inauguration of Ronald Reagan, that would mean that -- assuming this article is correct -- Mr. Raphel was Muskie's special assistant for less than three weeks. Perhaps the starting date is a bit off here? In any event, Muskie's own time in office was less than a year. NicholasNotabene (talk) 02:49, 26 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Give more details into August 17 incident. Give more details on his background as well.

Note:

Raphel was married three times, to Myrna, Robin and Nancy. Stephanie is a daughter from the First marriage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meros Felsenmaus (talkcontribs) 14:02, 13 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Politician

I took that out of the article; he may have been a political appointee, but he never ran for office.Mwinog2777 (talk) 16:50, 21 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
