The LeBron James Family Foundation is not notable, and most of the places listed are not notable. This is puffery and WP:UNDUE. The input of others would be appreciated. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:56, 9 June 2022 (UTC) Template:Reflist-talkReply

LeBron in and of himself is very notable. Thus anything he does, be it directly or under the banner of his foundation - especially when national media outlets report on it - is notable. Puffery would be including something like "LeBron likes rainbows and puppies". Building schools and hospitals ain't that. Vjmlhds (talk) 15:35, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Template:Ping Actually...no, not everything a notable person does is notable. His charitable works are out of scope on this article. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:37, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Template:Ping Taking his kids to McDonalds or cutting his grass - not notable. Building schools, hospitals, and community centers - notable. Pretty soon, every other street in Akron is gonna have some sort of building with a LeBron James Family Foundation logo front and center. If something you do generates national media attention, it's notable...otherwise they wouldn't bother with it. Vmlhds (talk) 22:26, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Template:Ping The charitable contributions of famous people--even if mentioned in reliable sources--does not guarantee inclusion in Wikipedia. This article is about a city; it is not about a wealthy sports personality. This edit is out-of-scope on this particular article. See WP:VNOT and WP:NOTEVERYTHING. Template:Ping Those policies are extremely subjective and up to the eye of the beholder. Where's the cut off point? Who is to say "OK, this is notable, but this isn't"? Not everything should be included, I agree...we don't need to know if he's walking his dog or ordering a pizza. But building schools and hospitals...that's a wee bit different. These are things going up in the city that are generating buzz and putting Akron in the news. He's not doing this in other towns, but he is in Akron, thus it has merit to be in the article, because it is all Akron-specific. Vjmlhds (talk) 02:15, 14 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

In general, this article is about the city and not meant to be a place to list worthy causes of rich people. The LeBron James Family Foundation section should be removed. It might be ok to add a small amount of text in the education section for the I Promise School and I Promise Institute but that is it. • SbmeirowTalk19:15, 14 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Only the I Promise School is independently notable. I will add a small mention there. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:27, 14 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

2022 Bridgestone opening

'I really couldn't be more proud': Akron gets first new tire plant in more than 70 years Seems notable but not sure where it should go in the article. Mapsax (talk) 03:09, 25 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

User:Synotia has added this photo of LeBron James to the article. My concerns is that "Images must be significant and relevant in the topic's context, not primarily decorative. They are often an important illustrative aid to understanding", per MOS:IMAGERELEVANCE. I'm not sure how a photo of a professional athlete--taken in some other city---is relevant to an article about a US city, or how it is an illustrative aid to understanding the city of Akron. The image is decorative and should be removed. Magnolia677 (talk) 11:12, 9 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

You're applying some serious double standards here as Reznik's picture is taken in fucking outer space. Moreover, this is common usage throughout wikispace for Notable People sections on city articles. I advise you to go and bounce around articles of cities.
