A rumour accusing Aisha
There is a statement in the article saying that: Template:Tq The citation given for it is:
- Script error: No such module "citation/CS1".
We need a page number for this. It is a book.
Template:Ping You keep wanting to alter this statement (and keep getting reverted). Please can you provide a source that supports whatever change you want to make, or explain how the citation above supports your proposed change. And yes, you need to give a page number if citing a book.-- Toddy1 (talk) 16:40, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
Reconsidering Aisha's Birth Year — Based on Reliable Academic Sources

- Reconsidering Aisha's Birth Year — Based on Reliable Academic Sources
Hi Toddy1, Thanks for the clarification
Here is the source I’m referring to:
Joshua M. Little, “Hadith As Scripture: Discussions on the Authority of Prophetic Traditions in Islam”, DPhil Thesis, University of Oxford, 2021. Available via Oxford University’s repository and academic networks. The discussion about Aisha’s age begins around page 289 and continues in-depth through chapters 5 and 6. Little critiques the isnads of the age-9 hadith and demonstrates how narrators like Hisham ibn Urwah are problematic. He also highlights inconsistencies with Asma’s age, which implies Aisha was born closer to 605 CE.
I’m happy to provide a PDF excerpt or direct quote if needed. This is not original research — I’m relying on a published peer-reviewed doctoral thesis. Khamza chehen (talk) 23:02, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- just following up on this. Let me know if further citation detail is needed. Khamza chehen (talk) 15:50, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
- Follow-up on Aisha's birth year discussion
Hi again, Just following up to see if there's any further feedback on the proposal regarding Aisha’s birth year, based on the academic work by Joshua Little.

- WP:SCHOLARSHIP says that a DPhil thesis can be used as a source in articles, Template:Tq
- So yes, you can add material that uses it as a source. But you should not remove material on the basis of Little's thesis.
- Please use Template:Citation, and that should use
|url=, and use|pages=to tell us which pages to look at for different statements.-- Toddy1 (talk) 07:26, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
