History section

Are people okay if I have a go at rewriting the history section? I've contributed to the Ancient section at History of Africa and I'm currently writing the post-classical and precolonial sections. For now I only want to summarise the Ancient period by merging Emergence of civilisation and Early civilisations and give a cursory view of the whole continent, whilst linking the relevant regional/periodical pages and country pages. Can the last sentence of the first paragraph under "height of the slave trade" be removed? European slaves aren't relevant to Africa and it sounds like the author is just trying to downplay the African slave trade

I'm not so sure? Covers makes sense when speaking about a state's territory over a landmass, but not as much when speaking about a landmass...over...? Though, contains is not better.Remsense ‥ 论 08:23, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

People may want to check the changes I made addressing Template:Ping’s tag. I want to add a sentence summarising Culture of Africa after the sentence on oral tradition, but don’t know what to put.
