Strandquist, Minnesota

Strandquist is a city in Lincoln Township of Marshall County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 70 at the 2020 census.

History

A post office called Strandquist has been in operation since 1899. The city was named in honor of J. E. Strandquist, a Swedish pioneer merchant, born in 1870, who settled in 1892.

As of the 2010 census, there were 69 people, 32 households, and 16 families living in the city. The population density was . There were 47 housing units at an average density of . There were 32 households, of which 31.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.4% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 50.0% were non-families. 43.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.16 and the average family size was 3.06.

The median age in the city was 45.2 years. 24.6% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.6% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 18.7% were from 25 to 44; 37.6% were from 45 to 64; and 13% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 56.5% male and 43.5% female.
