Regional selections
The Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR) held a national final to select its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1992. Each division of SRG SSR — Swiss German and Romansh broadcaster Script error: No such module "Lang". (SF DRS), Swiss French broadcater Script error: No such module "Lang". (TSR), and Swiss Italian broadcaster Script error: No such module "Lang". (TSI) — used its own method to select its entries for the final.[1] Eligible songs were required to have been composed by songwriters from Switzerland or Liechtenstein.[1]
TSR and SF DRS internally selected their songs,[2] however it is unknown how TSI selected theirs. In total, 142 songs were submitted (with 38 being invalid), of which ten were ultimately selected: three each in French and Italian and four in German.[3]

The national final was broadcast on TSI, TSR (with commentary from Template:Ill),[5] and SF.[5] Sandra Simó, who represented Template:Esccnty, and Richard Clayderman made guest appearances.[4]
Initially, only nine songs were due to compete,[4] however "Script error: No such module "Lang"." by Géraldine Olivier was eventually added to the lineup.[6]

Disqualification and replacement
On 9 April, it was announced that Géraldine Olivier was disqualified due to her song being submitted in both the TSR (in French, where it was rejected) and SF DRS preselections, which breached a rule regarding song submissions, specifically that songs could not be submitted twice to the regional selections by the same artist.[2][6] Additionally, the song was also added to the lineup late, even though only nine songs were set to compete, with 3 songs per language, and was selected for the national final after the submission deadline.[6] Runner-up Template:Ill later filed a lawsuit against SRG SSR for the oversight of the breach in rules.[2]
On 13 April, it was announced that runner-up Template:Ill would replace Olivier and represent Switzerland instead with her song "Mister Music Man".[9] It was previously speculated that she would have done so following Olivier's disqualification.[6]
