According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers an area of 24.3 square miles (62.9 km2), all of it land.
Demographics
The 2020 United States census reported that Sky Valley had a population of 2,411. The population density was Script error: No such module "convert".. The racial makeup of Sky Valley was 59.5% White, 1.5% African American, 1.3% Native American, 1.5% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 21.2% from other races, and 15.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 36.9% of the population.[2]
The census reported that 98.3% of the population lived in households, 1.7% lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and no one was institutionalized.[2]
There were 967 households, out of which 18.8% included children under the age of 18, 43.3% were married-couple households, 5.4% were cohabiting couple households, 25.7% had a female householder with no partner present, and 25.5% had a male householder with no partner present. 33.0% of households were one person, and 18.7% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.45.[2] There were 575 families (59.5% of all households).[3]

Cultural references
Seminal desert rock band Kyuss released the highly acclaimed album Welcome to Sky Valley in 1994. The album's cover artwork features a photo of a welcome sign located outside of the town, which has since become an attraction for fans of the band.
