He also is the CEO & President of RustyBrick, Inc., a New York–based web development company, and a news editor at Search Engine Land, a search engine news site founded by Danny Sullivan.[4] Previously, Schwartz was a writer for Search Engine Watch.[5] He also moderates online and offline panels at Search Engine Watch, and WebmasterWorld's PubCon.[6]

He has been interviewed by NBC Nightly News and USA Today about Search Marketing,[7][8] and has been quoted by news organizations reporting on the Internet Marketing space.[9][10][11] He is also an organizer of the SEO event series Search Marketing Expo (SMX) and is a member of the Internet Marketers – New York.[12] He was also the host of the Search Pulse podcast on WebmasterRadio.FM.[13]

At the age of 14, Barry Schwartz started RustyBrick.com and began website building in 1994.[14]

On 2 December 2003, Schwartz founded the "Rusty Brick Weblog" that would later evolve into Search Engine Roundtable.[15] The publication covers Search engine news and updates from Google Search, Microsoft Bing and other platforms.

Schwartz became a news correspondent at Search Engine Watch, in February 2006.[16] Then in December 2011, when founder Danny Sullivan left Search Engine Watch, Schwartz followed, becoming a founding staff member of Search Engine Land alongside Chris Sherman. [17] A prolific journalist, during 2022 Schwartz celebrated 19 years of writing for search news publications, contributing "around 40,000" articles.[18][19]

Schwartz received an award for Search Personality of the Year at the US Search Awards in 2018.[20]

In 2022 Schwartz founded a news site, LucidInsider.com, which covers the electric car company Lucid Motors.[21] In the same year, he was spotlighted in a Google Search podcast series as someone "from the larger Search Marketing community who inspires" in a Search of the Record podcast interview. [22]

Personal life

Schwartz is a graduate of Baruch College, City University of New York[23] and lives in Rockland County, New York. He is married and has three daughters and two sons.[24]
