Rho2 Cancri is a solitary,[4] yellow-hued star in the constellation Cancer. Its name is a Bayer designation that is Latinized from ρ2 Cancri, and abbreviated or Rho2 Cnc or ρ2 Cnc. With an apparent visual magnitude of 5.22,[2] it is visible to the naked eye on a dark night. Based upon an annual parallax shift of Script error: No such module "val". as seen from Earth,[1] this star is located approximately Script error: No such module "convert". from the Sun. At that distance, the visual magnitude is diminished by an extinction factor of 0.06 due to interstellar dust.[6] It is moving further away with a line of sight velocity of +16 km/s.[5]

At the age of about 234[6] million years, is an evolved, G-type giant star with a stellar classification of G8 III.[3] It has an estimated 3.6[6] times the mass of the Sun and has expanded to 24[3] times the Sun's radius. It is radiating 310[3] times the Sun's luminosity from its photosphere at an effective temperature of Script error: No such module "val"..[7] The star is spinning with a projected rotational velocity of 8 km/s.[3]
