The population was 30 as of the 2020 United States census.[1] The community lies along U.S. Route 183.
Geography
Putnam is located in southern Dewey County. Via US 183 it is Script error: No such module "convert". north to Taloga, the county seat, and Script error: No such module "convert". to Seiling. To the south on 183, it is Script error: No such module "convert". to Clinton.

As of the 2020 census, Putnam had a population of 30. The median age was 45.5 years. 23.3% of residents were under the age of 18 and 16.7% of residents were 65 years of age or older.
